About the Team

As a Principal Data Scientist on Walmart's Energy Transformation team, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve our goal of transitioning to renewable energy sources. In this key position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven solutions that drive down energy costs, reduce our carbon footprint, and support Walmart's commitment to sustainability. This position reports to the Senior Director, Business Strategy and is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.

What you'll do...

• Collaborate with the Energy Transformation team and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize data-driven initiatives that support Walmart's renewable energy goal s, with specific focus to Onsite projects like Solar, Heat Pumps, EV Charging, Refrigeration, and HVAC

• Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms to optimize energy consumption, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency across Walmart's facilities and supply chain

• Work with data engineers and other tech teams to design and implement data pipelines and architectures that support the Energy Transformation team's initiatives

• Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform energy management strategies and investments

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, procurement, and sustainability, to develop and implement data-driven solutions that drive down energy costs and reduce Walmart's carbon footprint

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends in data science, machine learning, and renewable energy, and apply this knowledge to inform Walmart's energy transformation efforts

• Communicate findings and insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations and presentations

The Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field

• At least 5 years of experience in a data science or machine learning role, preferably in the Renewable E nergy sector

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Julia, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries such as Pandas and NumPy

• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch , or Scikit-learn.

• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design

• Excellent communication and visualization skills, including experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or GCP

• Strong passion for renewable energy, and a desire to apply data science skills to drive positive environmental impact

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
